US Senate confirms former senator David Perdue as ambassador to China

The US Senate on Tuesday (local time) confirmed David Perdue as the new US Ambassador to China with a vote of 67 in favor and 29 against, CCTV news reported on Wednesday.

US President Donald Trump had previously announced on social media on December 5, 2024 (local time) his nomination of David Perdue for the position.

A Republican, Perdue served as a US Senator from Georgia from 2015 to 2021.
